What does it take to make homes greener without making life harder?

Elect delivered a 12-week energy efficiency upgrade programme across properties in Chester, in partnership with a third-party contractor.

The project included the installation of air source heat pumps, solar panels, ventilation systems and improved insulation. The aim was to help improve energy performance, reduce carbon impact and support more sustainable living, while keeping disruption to residents as low as possible.

The challenge

Energy upgrade works can be complex in live residential settings.

The team needed to complete multiple installations across occupied homes, while making sure residents understood what was happening, when works would take place and how the new systems would benefit them.

The programme also needed to be delivered safely and in line with UK health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations. With several workstreams running at once, coordination, resident communication and site control were all essential.

Our approach

We kept the work structured, safe and resident-focused.

Dedicated tenant liaison officers supported communication with residents throughout the programme, helping answer questions, explain the works and maintain transparency from start to finish.

The team set up a clear site structure, coordinated activity across the three delivery teams and worked closely with the local community to keep people informed about the scope and schedule of the works.

Regular health and safety audits were carried out to help maintain compliance and protect both residents and operatives on site.

This reflects how Elect works across energy efficiency projects: practical planning, clear communication and a focus on doing the work properly in people’s homes.

The outcome

The programme was completed successfully across the 12-week period.

The upgrades helped improve the energy efficiency of the properties, reduce carbon impact and create warmer, more comfortable homes for residents.

By combining quality installation with tenant engagement and ongoing support, Elect helped residents understand how to get the best from their new systems, making the move to more sustainable living feel clearer, simpler and more manageable.
